Painting Resource 3?
Hello everyone!,
The third paint(ing) resource is in regards to what you can paint with. Have you ever looked at an oil painting, and you wanted to try to paint with oils? When you researched about the oil painting technique, did you think that without the proper ventilation and materials, it would be possible that oil painting could be dangerous? Did you want to oil paint to get that "old school" look, but were still concerned with the technique? Or do you have people and/or pets around you that may be affected by the materials to clean paint brushes (i.e., turpentine)? Well, you should not worry any longer, because oil paints are also available in a water-mixable format! Called Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colour paints, one can paint like the "masters" of oil painting without any of the concerns of toxic chemicals (and instead, clean your brushes with water)! Some would argue that if you compared the water mixable oils to the regular oils, you would not see a difference! There are two ways to use the water mixable oil paints: use water to mix your painting (Note: if you use water, realize that the colors may appear to "lighten up" during the painting process; however, after a few weeks (during the drying process), the color will return to its original pigment), or use Winsor & Newton Artisan water mixable mediums! These water mixable mediums are specifically designed to work with the water mixable oils (I do not think it is possible to use non-water mixable oil mediums with water mixable oil paints). Experiment, create, and have fun! Just make sure that when you finish your oil painting, you find a spot for it to dry for several months! If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask away!
