Today's post will deal with a unique type of color pencils/blocks. Have you ever wanted your artwork to stay as it was, without worrying about adding a fixative? Would you have liked to add layers to your drawing (or painting), but when you added color to your existing layer, it altered the color, shape, or the overall tone of your artwork? Have you wondered how to show previous layers through without compromising your paper (or canvas)? Fortunately, you're in luck. Derwent's Inktense Ink Pencils and Blocks will work for you! Using either Ink Pencils or Blocks gives you the freedom to add as many layers as you want without worrying about the color/drawing/painting you want to add over/on top/show through (Note: Wait for your current layer to completely dry if you're using Derwent's Inktense Pencils or Blocks; otherwise, the colors will blend (unless that's what you want)). You can use the Inktense Pencils and/or Blocks as they are-vibrant colors for intense effects without using water. However, if you use water, you will get this ink-like effect, bringing out more of the pigment as well as create wonderful effects. In addition, once the colors dry, they are permanent on the surface! No worries about smearing, smudging, or altering the colors! Derwent's Inktense series is a wonderful set to have, especially if you're trying to come up with beautiful, intense effects without worrying about messing up what you created!
