Art Book References #1?!
Hello everyone!,
Do you want to imitate an art style, but you're not sure where to look? Or do you remember a particular image you whites, but you're not sure who the artist was? Or better yet, you want to do your own self-study, but you want to have a reference for you don't have to worry about copyright issues online? Well, no worries, because this entry will cover one of miniseries of art styles. Today's blog entry will talk about styles from the 1950s and 1960 are illustrations!
If you're looking for inspiration from artists that did magazine, book cover, or even newspaper illustrations, purchasing Lifestyle Illustration of the 50s and Lifestyle illustration of the 60s, both edited by Ryan Hughes, is the best way to go! Both books are over 400 pages long, and contain thousands of beautiful art pieces done by various artists throughout the world.
However, if you do know a particular artist during the 1950s and/or 1960s timeline, one artists I would suggest would be Robert E. McGinnis. His work is not only wonderful to view, but also is a great study for anatomy (drawing lessons, painting, etc.).
